Carl Van Vechten was concert review, novelist and photographer in the U.S. for years 20 to 60. He has a keen interest in Renaissance art Harlem and has made portraits of such rare and original black artists of his time, singers, actors, musicians, dancers ... creating a documentary on this precious cultural movement that blibliothèque bought after the U.S. Congress his death in 1964. His portraits are characterized by the color of amateur poetry that shades pastellisés very kitsch decor and they confer. You can admire a gallery of famous artists, unknown but rendered unforgettable by all these portraits, starting with the splendid Harry Belafonte.
